Our website design
tool set of choice

Dreamweaver and Photoshop are
our preferred website design tools

In today's fast paced business world, Adobe Dreamweaver is our tool of choice for creating web pages. Although we could write your website's code manually, Dreamweaver enables us to quickly design a unique website for your business in a matter of hours, not weeks.

Dreamweaver not only enables us to create editable templates, the software uses web standard HTML and CSS coding and enables offline verification and browser compatibility checks throughout the design process as well as offering numerous other features.

If you need us to redesign or complete a website you have already started and the web pages were not created using Dreamweaver, we will start from scratch using Dreamweaver.

Unless you have a content managed website, when adding new content or making minor changes to your web pages, we prefer to edit your website offline and upload the updated files. However, if we need to make online edits of your content we use Adobe Contribute, the editing tools provided by your web host or we make changes via the file manager in your control panel.

Our tools of choice for creating graphics for your website are Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. For many website designers, the tool of choice is Fireworks. However, the benefit of using Photoshop and Illustrator is that, in the long term, we can save you money.

When we create graphics for your website, PhotoShop and Illustrator enable us to create or enlarge them for print, which means we can easily use them to create a banner sign or any other print material to match your website. The time we save not having to recreate your graphics is passed on to you as a cost saving.

Accepted file formats for your website's content

We accept editorial content for your website in Word, Publisher or email. You can also send an unformatted version of your text in Notepad or Wordpad. The unformatted version eliminates any additional coding that may affect the validity of the html code.

You may include images in your document for layout purposes, but please send the image files separately with an appropriate filename. We prefer that you do not send images/photos labelled pic1, pic2, or image1 image2, etc., as this means we will have to rename them.

Image specs for website designs

The image resolution for web images is 72 dpi. We optimize all images for the web which reduces the file size so they load quickly. However, where possible we use the high or max quality setting. All images for the web are cropped or resized in PhotoShop and, with the exception of eCommerce shopping carts, used at 100% size.

Accepted File Formats

We accept all the same file formats as for print plus the following:

Photos: JPG, 24 bit PNG
Animations and clip art: Gifs
Images with graded transparencies: 24 bit PNG

Where possible, images and graphics you plan to use in your website should be sent in their original format especially if they need to be close cropped. There is no need to downsize them unless they are too big to send. We will crop and resize images as necessary.
